AwareNewJersey aims to be a directory of a variety of unique, non-mainstream, small, independent, local businesses throughout New Jersey in specific niche markets: The Arts, Crafts, the Environment, Wellness, Spirituality, Natural and Artisan foods, Culture, Wildlife and Animal Welfare, Home & Garden and anything else that strikes our fancy. We blog about these areas of interest and about small business.

Buy Local
The 3/50 Project is another great idea. A simple idea. I have to say that I need to work on this. I have a habit of running to the nearest, fastest solution which is usually a national chain; for a sandwich, for groceries, for certain commonly, repeatedly purchased necessities. Chains are successful because they've invested in locations, they've studied purchasing patterns, they've under-priced and over-marketed the market so that little local businesses are less attractive. But, we still don't have to shop there.
Visit The 3/50 Project, read their pages. Just this little change in shopping will make a difference.
And, do a search on our site in your county and see what you find. There are a lot of really great local businesses to take care of your shopping needs.
Thank you.
